IP telephony?
An IP telephony network, also called a converged network, simply means that the data lines and the phone lines of your business are one in the same — both data and voice are transmitted using the same lines.
'All in one'?
In other words, Avaya IP Office is the total business phone system package, combining the classic telephone server features you would expect from a private branch exchange (PBX) system with the benefits of a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) system. Other companies that offer VoIP only bring limited voicemail server capacity, with features like advanced messaging and call center capability costing more and requiring add on packages. All of these are standard features on Avaya IP Phones.
Small businesses only?
Avaya IP Office can support access for up to 1,000 users, so perhaps the term 'small business' is something of a misnomer. This system is ideal for banking, financial, insurance, retail, transportation, healthcare, and even manufacturing and distribution businesses — and many more. What's more, with the addition of another Avaya product — Avaya Voicemail Pro — multiple Avaya IP Office networks can be linked to a common server for even greater growth.
Talk about features
Avaya IP Office supports a wireless phone network, improves call routing and data routing, provides a single inbox in which you receive voicemail, email, and fax messages, and can offer any or all of its functionality to a mobile user without a problem. It also has an automated call center.
Call center?
The call center is this system's equivalent of a PBX system's auto attendant; it's less powerful, but still excellent. Whenever a customer calls in, the Call Center takes their information and directs them to the most appropriate extension for their needs.
But my business already has a phone system in place
That's OK — Avaya IP Office doesn't replace your old phone system; it supports it. Essentially adding all of it's functionality and capability to your existing phone network. It's less of a replacement and more of an upgrade.
